I don't seem to take the time to blog like I used to. But this time of year is really special. We are looking forward to Christmas this year - having Joy, Ryan and Ryley visit us tomorrow and through the rest of the weekend here in Jenks America. We are grateful that the Lord is granting us pleasant weather this week. The cold and mist is supposed to move on out and in its place temps up in the 60s by Friday and Saturday. So, we will enjoy Christmas with family and friends, and a great home-cooked turkey dinner with all the trimmings and Kathy's most excellent turkey dressing. We will probably play some games with Ryley and run the Lionel Polar Express train a few times around the Christmas Tree - at least enough to blow the whistle and see the engine puffing smoke. We plan to read the Christmas story from the Bible - sharing the real meaning of Christmas - that God sent his only Son to earth - born of the virgin Mary - conceived of the Holy Ghost - worshipped by shepherds, wise men, angels, and Mary and Joseph, too, and last of all by those of us who have received Him as Savior. We know from the Word that eventually every knee shall bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. How much better for those of us who willingly, gladly, and joyfully proclaim Jesus Lord of our lives right here and now and who endeavor to give back to Him all the honor and glory that is due to His Name! During the Christmas season it is easy to find ourselves taking a holiday from the normal routine of life. But this year more than ever, we do not need a holiday from concentrating upon our Lord. We hear Him calling us to sweet communion, fellowship, and times of waiting upon Him - trusting in Him. He will bring us throuh in every situation. And oh, how we praise and thank God for His mercy and grace in our hour of need. We thank Him for His promises, and we know that the Lord is faithful to HIs Word to perform it. Read Jeremiah 29:11. We keep you in our prayers. Have a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year in 2009. |
